The Fraser Gallery was established in 1996 by Catriona Fraser, in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. In 2002, Ms. Fraser opened a second, larger gallery in Bethesda, MD. In 2005, the Georgetown location was closed. The Fraser Gallery represents the work of local, national and international artists with an emphasis on contemporary realism and photography. In April 2011, after 15 years in the D.C Metro area, Ms. Fraser closed the Bethesda storefront location. The Fraser Gallery will continue to represent its artists online and at upcoming international art fairs in New York, Boston and Miami.
Catriona Fraser
Catriona Fraser is an international award winning photographer and the owner and Director of the Fraser Gallery.
Her work has been exhibited widely in many galleries in Europe, Latin America and the United States. Additionally, her work has been exhibited in the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, the Otero Museum in Colorado, the Museu de Brusque in Brazil and the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City.
As a curator and juror, Ms. Fraser has orchestrated, organized, curated and juried over 100 exhibits, ranging from being the peer juror at the 1996 Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival to curating exhibits for various Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland galleries and artists' organizations and leagues.
Ms. Fraser serves on the Bethesda Art and Entertainment District Advisory Panel and on the Board of the Washington School of Photography. She has served on the Advisory Panel for the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County and also serves as the Chair of the Trawick Art Prize, a fine art competition that will award $14,000 in prize money to artists residing in Maryland, Washington D.C and Virginia. She is also the Chair of the Bethesda Painting Awards, an annual competition that awards $14,000 in prize money to painters residing in the same area. Ms. Fraser is also the Director of the annual Bethesda Fine Arts Festival.
In 2008, Ms. Fraser was honored with the "2008 Woman of Achievement Award" by the Montgomery County Business and Professional Women's Association.
