JUNE 2008 - THE BETHESDA PAINTING AWARDS
June 4 - July 5, 2008 The Fraser Gallery is pleased to host the 4th Annual Bethesda Painting Awards, a regional painting competition produced by The Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District.
The judges for the 2008 competition are Reni Gower, Timothy App and Dr. Anne Goodyear. $14,000 will be awarded to three artists, with a Grand Prize winner receiving $10,000. The Bethesda Painting Awards are open to painters residing in DC, MD or VA. Prize winners were announced at a private reception on Wednesday, June 4. The Fraser Gallery is pleased to host a summer celebration of previous winners of the Trawick Prize and the Bethesda Painting Awards. This exhibit will include new work by Trawick Prize winners Richard Cleaver (2003), David Page (2004), Jiha Moon (2005), James Rieck (2006), Jo Smail (2007) and Bethesda Painting Award Winners Joe Kabriel (2005), Tony Shore (2006) and Matt Klos (2007). An opening reception for the general public will be held in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk on Friday, July 11 from 6pm - 9pm.
